Sgt. Brown at Patrol Base California in the Pesh Valley, Afghanistan. For most of the duration of their deployment, the soldiers of 1-32 Battalion lived in a small, spartan base in a dangerous valley.

According to soldiers at the base, they were involved in more than 80 firefights against insurgent forces.
