U.S. Navy officials order seven suspected pirates to keep their hands in the air after they tried to hijack a commercial ship. The men were captured Feb. 11, 2009 by the USS Vella Gulf, a guided-missile cruiser that detects and deters piracy. The men were kept aboard the ship until they were transferred by helicopter to the U.S. Navy ship Lewis and Clark. (Mass Communications Specialist 2nd Class Jason R. Zalasky/U.S. Navy)
