2012 National Geographic Photography Contest
"Freaky Fungi." Filoboletus Manipularis is a mushroom that emits a faint glow in the dark because its bioluminescent properties. This group was photographed with a three-minute exposure. Winners in the categories of nature, people and places plus the overall grand-prize winner of the National Geographic Photo Contest will be announced in mid-December.
