A strong earthquake rocked Taiwan, but there are no reports of damage or injuries.
The quake measured 6.2 on the open-ended Richter scale, the Reuters news agency reported, citing the island's central weather bureau.
Early reports say the temblor was centered about 75 miles from the capital, Taipei.
A 1999 earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale shattered life on the island, killing almost 2,500 people. That quake caused more than $9 billion in damage.
