Hijacking Foiled in Jordan

A M M A N, Jordan July 5 -- Jordanian security forces at Ammaninternational airport foiled an attempt today tohijack a national airliner set to fly to Damascus, killing aSyrian hijacker and capturing two others, a government officialsaid.

Several passengers on the Royal Jordanian plane were woundedin the firing. The two arrested hijackers were beinginterrogated, the official said.

Syrian identification papers were found on the threehijackers, he added.

There were no further details.
