'Billionaire Birthday' Party at Mexico Resort Caters to 'Pampered Teens'

— -- Call it the aftermath of "My Super Sweet 16."

The MTV reality show showcasing over-the-top coming-of-age parties may no longer air, but its legacy of excess lives on at Grand Velas Resort in Mexico's Riviera Maya.

The resort's "Billionaire Birthday Package" caters, the resort's website says, to "the pampered teens of the world's most elite."

This isn't just a marketing gimmick. The resort said it's meeting the demands of an existing market -- one it caters to already.

"We’ve had $2 million bar mitzvahs recently, so we have a solid track record with these uber luxe parties," said Juan Vela, vice president of Velas Resorts. "We’re convinced there’s a larger market for this, not just for bar and bat mitzvahs, but for all teen milestone events. So we thought, 'Why not package the features and let travel agents and guests know that we have the creativity this kind of party demands, can outreach to suppliers at the highest levels, and make all this happen for a party to top all?' And if, as we suspect, the client wants something even more elaborate and sumptuous at an even larger budget, we’ll make that happen too."

So what does $2 million get your teen? In addition to the birthday girl or boy being "treated like royalty," there's a three-night stay in one of the luxury resort’s two-bedroom Presidential Suites, complete with daily in-suite breakfast for up to 10 friends. The birthday bash on the beach accommodates up to 300 invitees. It also includes:

• private jet round-trip transportation from anywhere in the U.S., Mexico or Canada.
• private check-in.
• welcome bags featuring an Apple iWatch.
• custom designer dress by Pineda Covallín.
• spa takeover for partygoers.
• diamond rental.
• skydive or flyboard experience.
