— -- Maybe she'll be a little firecracker.

While some people use balloons or a colored cake, a Canadian couple wanted to start their pregnancy off with a bang -- revealing the sex of their little bundle of joy in a fireworks display.

Graham Driscoll, who works for a fireworks company on the side, his wife Monica Driscoll and their soon-to-be 3-year-old son lit up the night sky in Nova Scotia Saturday with an elaborate display.

"We didn't want to do the typical cupcake thing," Driscoll said of the reveal for their baby, due in late July. "A light bulb went off and I thought fireworks would be a neat idea."

The reveal was as much of a surprise to the parents-to-be as it was to all of the friends and family members in attendance, all of whom were excited to see a pink color explode in the sky.

"I was hoping for a girl," said Graham Driscoll. "Even though my wife was convinced it was a boy. I just had a hunch."

To pull off the feat, the dad says he approached his manager with the idea and entrusted the envelope revealing the sex of the baby to the company.

"We handed over the envelope the same day we got it and waited until the fireworks show to find out the results," Driscoll explained. "We're all very excited to be having a little girl."

Driscoll posted footage of the reveal on YouTube, which can be seen here:
