— -- A family in Houston, Texas, discovered an unexpected feline stowaway stuck in the wall of their apartment.

According to ABC-owned station KTRK, the Guerrero/Griffin family noticed something was strange when their dog "Little Momma" was barking and growling at a wall inside their home.

"She would not stop growling so I said 'What? Show Mommy.' But she wasn't looking at the door," Alexis Guerrero told KTRK.

The dog led Guerrero, her husband, Alfred Griffin, and the rest of the family to faint cries from what turned out to be a mother cat and kittens.

Eventually, the family distinguished only noise from a lone kitten, apparently left behind by the mother, and used a knife cut a hole in the wall to safely remove the animal.

After the family freed the tiny gray kitten from a maze of nails behind the wall, their grandson named her "Angel," because angels never die.

The dog-loving family said they will adjust to the addition of their new feline friend.
