— -- For one New Jersey woman, Christmas came early when her longtime boyfriend, Mark Seibert, used the festive holiday lights on their roof to pop the question on Dec. 9.

“I was shocked,” bride-to-be Erin Fisher of Carneys Point told ABC News. “I never thought I’d be a girl to cry but of course I cried.”

Her sneaky fiancé knows she loves Christmas, so he wanted to incorporate the special season into the proposal.

“I had been brainstorming for a while,” Seibert said. “I bought her ring back in July and I was thinking of the right way to do it. We’ve been together so long, I knew it had to be something special. My brother said, ‘What about Christmas lights?’ and it snowballed from there.”

Seibert got Fisher to go outside by telling her they were all taking a large family photo with the decorations.

“His sister happened to be coming home from Florida to visit,” Fisher said. “I was told we were celebrating Christmas early with family so his sister could be there. He did all the lights finally because I was complaining he didn’t get them up on the house, and he said, ‘We’ll light them when my sister is here.’ So he got me outside to take a group family photo with the lights. I joined the group on the sidewalk and he told my friend in the backyard to turn on the lights, and then I saw it and I was completely shocked. He did such a good job. It was the perfect way.”

It took Seibert about two days to organize the lights to read, “Will You Marry Me?”

“I did it on a tarp at my brother’s house,” he explained. “I did a tarp backing and then used electrical tape to block out the negative space.”

The over-the-moon Fisher of course said “Yes.”

The happy couple, along with their nearly 2-year-old son, Grayson, are planning the wedding for summer 2018.

“I’m a beach girl so it will be probably be a summer one,” said Fisher. “But we’ll have to sneak some Christmas lights in.”
