— -- When a local fire department in England received a call about a man with a ring stuck on his finger, firefighter Jodi Vincent had no idea she was about to get the surprise of a lifetime.

When she arrived at the scene on Sept. 7, she was greeted by her longtime boyfriend, Mark Edwards, who used the fake call as the perfect opportunity to pop the question.

“I was completely unaware that I was going to be proposed to today,” the bride-to-be told her Birmingham, England, fire station after the initial shock wore off. “I thought it would be just be a regular day! We were called out to a man with a ring stuck on his finger, and I thought it was unusual to be sent out to this but you never know what you can get called out to as a firefighter."

“I was delighted and said yes! I couldn’t be happier!” she said of the romantic moment at Grand Central shopping center.

All of her colleagues were in on the sneaky surprise.

“They managed to keep it a complete secret – they all owe me a drink at the wedding!” joked Vincent.

The lovebirds have yet to set a wedding date.
