The Wild Ones is a project by photographer Miisha Nash on the relationships between parrot sanctuary owners and the parrots they care for. Due to their long lifespan and the high cost of caring for a parrot, many are abandoned or outlive their owners.
Ex-firefighter Brian Wilson began his work with parrots after he was severely wounded in a car crash. Wilson had three parrot companions at the time and said that the birds “brought him back to life.”
