Soap operas are having a tough time these days -- viewers aren't tuning in the way they used to.
Despite the tough economy, soap operas still serve as a launching ground for actors' careers. Many of TV's most famous faces once played a recurring role on a soap opera.
Demi Moore became a household name after playing the part of Jackie Templeton on the ABC soap opera "General Hospital" from 1982 to 1983. Moore's subsequent transition to the big screen, where she starred in mega-hits such as "A Few Good Men," "Ghost" and "Indecent Proposal," earned her a spot on Hollywood's A-list.
