The 2009 crash of Air France Flight 447, which killed all 228 passengers and crew on board, is considered one of the worst -- and most mysterious -- aviation disasters in modern history.

On June 6, "Nightline" investigates the crash in a special edition called "Vanished: The Mystery of Flight 447," which airs at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC. The show will take a look at the timeline of events leading up to the crash, what the recovered black box tapes revealed about the pilots' final words and theories for what caused the passenger jet to slam into the Atlantic Ocean.
