TRYING TO CATCH A MOMENT: It's easy to see the jumping sturgeon with the human eye -- they come from all directions. It is not so easy to catch a great shot of them with a camera lens. ABC cameraman Al Durruthy and sound engineer Dan Hagen spent an exasperating day on the Suwannee watching the fish jump everywhere but in front of his lens. We began to wonder whether they were laughing at us from below the water's surface. With patience and persistence, Durruthy and Hagen eventually got some terrific shots.
