UNEXPECTED ACCIDENT: Sharon Touchton of St. Petersburg, Fla., was on the Suwannee in late March with her husband and young granddaughter. After this photo was taken she handed the child to her husband, and moments after that, she was hit by a jumping sturgeon. The fish severed four of her fingers, her tongue was sliced and her spleen was bruised. Her husband found her unconscious in the water. She was airlifted to Gainesville were surgeons were able to reattach three of the four fingers.
