There are no guardrails. In some areas the edge of the road is a 1,000 foot cliff. Fortunately, most traffic can take a new two-lane paved road that opened in December 2006. It connects the Yungas Valley to La Paz. (Courtesy Gravity-Assisted Mountain Biking)
