On March 30, 2008, Rick Warren (pictured with a translator) officially kicked off his first national 40 Days of Purpose initiative, which aims to help the country by bringing together talents from three sectors of Rwandan society: public, private and faith. He addressed a crowd of nearly 20,000 people gathered in Kigali's Amohoro Stadium. Amohoro, appropriately, means "peace" in the Kinyarwandan language. Rwanda is still healing and recovering after the 1994 genocide that claimed the lives of an estimated 900,000 people in 100 days. (Whitney Kelley / ALRC)
