Cancer-Free Dwarfs
Genetic tests conducted by Guevara in conjunction with U.S. universities helped establish that the small people of Southern Ecuador have an extremely rare genetic disorder called Laron Syndrome, previously only found in a few dozen people in Eastern Europe and Israel. Guevara believes the much larger population in Ecuador is related to the other group through common ancestors, probably Jews who escaped the Spanish Inquisition hundreds of years ago. One went to Europe and another went to what is now Ecuador.
