Bachmann claims fundraising bounce amid controversy

— -- Recent controversy over Rep. Michele Bachmann's inquiries into whether Congress had been infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood doesn't appear to have hampered her re-election campaign.

The Minnesota Republican announced Tuesday that she raised more than $1 million between July 1 and July 25.

"This incredible outpouring of support demonstrates the trust Minnesotans have placed in Representative Bachmann. They know Michele fights for them, and for the values they hold dear," Bachmann campaign manager Chase Kroll said in a statement. "While we are grateful for last month's fundraising, we can not slow our efforts on the campaign. We still have a radical, liberal, self-funding opponent who has demonstrated his willingness to pour huge sums into this race."

Jim Graves, a hotel magnate, is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination in the 6th District and has used Bachmann's Muslim Brotherhood inquiry in his campaign materials.

Bachmann and several of her House Republican colleagues earlier this month accused Muslim government officials including Huma Abedin, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's deputy chief of staff and wife of former Rep. Anthony Weiner, of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, sparking condemnation from Democrats as well as Republicans.

Bachmann faces two token opponents in the Aug. 14 Republican primary.
