Democratic House campaign arm attacks Republican candidates on health care
— -- The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) launched an attack campaign on Monday targeting 10 Republicans who are running for the House on health care.
Through automated and live phone calls, the committee is casting each of the 10 politicians as someone who wants to "put insurance companies back in charge of our health care" instead of aiding the middle class. An example of the script criticizing California Rep. Dan Lungren reads as follows:
Congressman Dan Lungren already voted for deep cuts to Medicare to fund more tax breaks for millionaires and corporations. He even voted to protect the government healthcare plan funded with your tax dollars for members of Congress. But now he could vote to let insurance corporations cut back your health benefits.
In addition to Lungren, the campaign is targeting fellow California Rep. Mary Bono Mack; Illinois Reps. Judy Biggert, Robert Dold, and Bobby Schilling; Maryland Rep. Roscoe Bartlett; New York Reps. Ann Marie Buerkle, Chris Gibson and Nan Hayworth; and Illinois Republican Rodney Davis, who is running in the state's 13th District.
The moment the Supreme Court upheld the individual mandate of the president's health care law, Republicans declared the ruling would motivate their base.
