Out and About With the Obamas

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama enjoyed a date night in New York City on May 30, 2009, dining at Blue Hill Restaurant before taking in the Broadway show "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" at the Belasco Theater.

A White House press spokesperson said Obama had promised his wife while running for president that he would take her to a Broadway show when the campaign was finished. Questioned about the use of three planes for the excursion, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs would not say how much the date cost.
