The morning shows led with blanket Ivan coverage followed by packages about Imam al Zawahiri's new video.

Coverage of National Guard documents:(Fox and Friends: 7:06)(CNN's Suzanne Malveaux: 7:09a)(ABC's Stephanopoulos: 7:12a)(Quintanilla wrap: 7:13a)(CBS tell: 7:32)

NATIONAL GUARD:

Introduced by Charlie Gibson who said "we are talking about the fact that [the new Bush Guard documents] may be forgeries," ABC's George "detective" Stephanopoulos detailed experts' doubts about the National Guard documents first reported by CBS News that reportedly show a Bush commander saying higher-ups were urging a sugar-coating of his Guard record. Stephanopoulos reported that those experts say "the clues indicate" the documents are forgeries, but "they are not making a 100% guarantee."

Stephanopoulos also reported that the Kerry campaign's Joe Lockhart denies having anything to do with the story and said "a lot of Democrats say this is a set up" by Republicans.

In a tell CBS "Early Show" anchor Julie Chen reported that "the authenticity of those documents is now being questioned" by family members and that "there are questions about the typography, which some experts say appear to have been done on a computer... CBS News says it stands by the story."

CNN's Suzanne Malveaux wrapped experts' doubts about the authenticity of the documents without reporting anything new.

Inside his wrap of the campaign trail and the newest polls, NBC's Carl Quintanilla reported there are "some questions" about the authenticity of the documents, but not from the White House.

RICE:

On "Today" National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice addressed the new Al Zawahiri tape by saying "we are safer today" than we were on 9/11 and that al Qaeda is "sitting in a cave" making these tapes.

BRADY CAMPAIGN:

CNN's news block right at 7:00 am prominently featured the new Brady Campaign newspaper ad that shows Osama bin Laden holding an assault weapon saying "I can't wait for Sept. 13."
