Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick resigned in September 2008 after lying under oath about his affair with chief of staff Christine Beatty. The Democrat had been previously accused of running up city-issued credit cards for travel, leisure and excessive parties at the mayor's residence. Other big city mayors who recently admitted to having affairs include San Francisco's Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles' Antonio Villaraigosa. Kilpatrick has moved to Texas after serving jail time for multiple felony counts of perjury and obstruction of justice, reports the Detroit News.
