President Obama 'Tired' of Talking About Donald Trump
"Every time he talks, he makes the case against his own candidacy," said Obama.
MARTHA'S VINEYARD, Mass. -- President Obama took a brief break from his 16-day vacation on Martha’s Vineyard to attend a Democratic National Committee fundraiser on the island, where he made a strong case for Hillary Clinton as he seemed to brush off Donald Trump.
“Frankly, I’m tired of talking about her opponent,” Obama said. “I don’t have to make the case against her opponent because every time he talks, he makes the case against his own candidacy.”
However, Obama warned Democrats in the room against becoming too cozy with the positive poll numbers as of late, saying it has been an unpredictable election season.
“If we are not running scared until the day after the election, we are going to be making a grave mistake,” Obama said.
While heaping praise on Clinton, Obama noted that her popularity has suffered throughout the campaign, ordering Democrats to push back in the months ahead.
“We are still going to have to fight what has been an unrelenting negative campaign against her that has made a dent in the opinion of people even who are inclined to vote for her,” Obama said. "So we’ve got to be aggressive in our campaign for 80 days and that’s not a lot."
The fundraiser was at a private residence in the town of Chilmark on the island with around 60 attendees who contributed $10,000 each to attend.
