Teresa Lewis Becomes 12th Woman to Be Executed in U.S. Since 1976

Teresa Lewis was put to death tonight in Virginia, becoming the first woman executed in the state in nearly a century despite protests over factors that included her mental competency. Lewis, 41, died by injection at 9:13 p.m. at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Va., according to The Associated Press.
