Suing Arizona: Judge Waits to Rule in U.S. Case Against State Immigration Law

The highly anticipated showdown between the U.S. government and the state of Arizona over the state's new immigration enforcement law began in a federal courtroom today. Government lawyers asked U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton to block the law from taking effect next week, while attorneys representing Arizona and Gov.
