ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” ranked as the No. 1 public affairs program on Sunday in Adults 25-54 (922,000) on August 21, 2016, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “This Week” outperformed CBS’ “Face the Nation” (761,000) by 161,000 Adults 25-54, beating the CBS program in the key adult news demo for the 9th consecutive week.

For the 2nd week in a row, “This Week” was up from the previous week in Adults 25-54 (+1% - 922,000 vs. 910,000 on 8/14/16).

“This Week” surged on its comparable telecast 4 years ago (2.384 million and 660,000, respectively, on 8/12/12) opposite the 2012 Summer Olympics on NBC both in Total Viewers (+27%) and Adults 25-54 (+40%).

Season to date, “This Week” leads CBS’ “Face the Nation” by 24,000 Adults 25-54 (936,000 vs. 912,000), beating the CBS program for the 2nd year in a row and by its largest news demo margin in 7 years – since the 2008-09 season.

“This Week” is improving in both Total Viewers (+14% - 3.236 million vs. 2.831 million) and Adults 25-54 (+7% - 936,000 vs. 875,000) versus its year-ago season averages. In fact, “This Week” is drawing its largest overall audience in 17 years and posting its strongest news demo performance in 7 years – since the 1998-99 and 2008-09 seasons, respectively.
