Model Petra Nemcova Speaks of Tsunami Ordeal

March 4, 2005 — -- In her first television interview since narrowly escaping death in the Southeast Asia tsunami, model Petra Nemcova shares the details of her harrowing survival story with Diane Sawyer and talks about the heartbreaking loss of her boyfriend.

Nemcova avoided being swept away by clinging to a palm tree for eight hours, but was left badly injured with a shattered pelvis and internal injuries. Nemcova's boyfriend, British photographer Simon Atlee, is still missing and presumed dead.

During the highly emotional interview, the 25-year-old Nemcova explains to Sawyer how this ordeal forever changed her perspective on life and why Atlee's memory continues to inspire her. "Amazing Grace: A Story of Terror and Survival" -- a special edition of "Primetime Live" -- airs Wednesday, March 9 (10 to 11 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network.
