Lena is one of the 18-year-olds in the process of Rumspringa. She is the youngest of 11 children and has chosen to obtain her GED during the period because the Amish only go to school through eighth grade. They believe life experience trumps formal education. Lena has also experimented with drinking and is thinking about leaving the community. She told Schadler that "My dream, right now, is to leave the Amish and do what I want to." (ABC News)
