Oct. 14, 2004 — -- Each week, Primetime Live closes with "That Was the Week That Was," a revival of a hit show in the 1960s that began in Britain with the BBC.

"TW3," as it's come to be nicknamed, is a catchy song and a big dose of satire. Here are this week's lyrics:

(SUNG) That was the week that was / Bill O'Reilly is O'really raunchy / his producer testified/ to phone sex he's denied... / But you know our motto here... we sing, you decide...

(SPOKEN) And now for what could be Bill O'Reilly's Dirty Talking Points / Point one: Bored by talk of Iraq and Wolfowitz / You won't believe what he can do in the shower with luffa mitts / Point two: what he'd really like to do to Al Franken / is give him a good hard spankin' / And finally point three: That buzzing sound -- in case you're asking / Is Bill O'Reilly multi-tasking

(SUNG) That was the week that was / We're through the last of three long debates / but the main thing we know/at the end of the show.. / is who the V-P's daughter... Mary Cheney dates!

(SPOKEN) In entertainment news this week, / Desperate Housewives is a ratings bonanza... / Can anybody even remember when ABC last had a hit? .. / (Tony Danza speaks up) / It was -- "Who's the Boss" starring me: Tony Danza!

(SUNG) The Supreme Court takes on the Ten Commandments / Does Moses need their protection? / But they prob'ly won't hear/that case this year / They'll be so busy deciding... the presidential election...

(SPOKEN) This week, John Edwards joined the great stem cell debate, / promised the lame will walk if you vote for me and my running mate... / he said it with a charm few could resist, / I thought he was a trial lawyer -- not a televangelist...

(SUNG) Saddam had his hernia fixed this week / The White House made the obvious deduction / The butcher of Iraq/ Lifted with his back / Hiding all those missing... "weapons of mass destruction".
