Dolly Parton released her latest album, "Blue Smoke," on Tuesday and sat down with ABC News to talk about her career -- and why she's become an icon for her legions of gay fans.

"I’ve always kinda been a little outcast myself, a little oddball, doin' my thing, my own way. And it's been hard for me to be accepted, certainly in the early years of my life," Parton told ABC News. "I'm accepted now, for the most part. But I think that they relate to the fact that I'm just open and accepting."
