— -- The college football season kicks off in 100 days. Can't wait? Neither can we. Here's a look at 100 numbers to know while we count down the days till college football returns.

1. Preseason No. 1: The last preseason No. 1 team to win the AP national championship was USC in 2004.

2. Two losses and you're done: Only two teams have won the FBS national championship with two or more losses: the 1960 Minnesota Golden Gophers and 2007 LSU Tigers.

3. FSU national championships: Florida State defeated Auburn in the BCS National Championship to win its third national title in program history. Will the Seminoles repeat? They have never won back-to-back championships.

4. College Football Playoff: The selection committee will pick four teams this season for the first College Football Playoff.

5. Bama's recruiting dominance: Alabama signed five of the 15 five-star recruits in the Class of 2014, according to ESPN's rankings, most of any FBS school.

6. Bear Bryant's national titles: No coach in the poll era (since 1936) has won more national championships than the six of Alabama's Bear Bryant. In fact, no other coach had more than four. (Nick Saban is the only active coach with four.)

8. Eight-game conference schedule: The SEC announced this spring that it will maintain an eight-game conference schedule and the ACC followed suit. The Pac-12 and Big 12 already play nine conference games and the Big Ten is scheduled to start a nine-game slate in 2016.

9. Consistent winners: Oregon, Alabama, Nebraska and LSU are the only teams that have won at least nine games in each of the past five seasons.

10. Alabama's national championships: The Tide have won 10 national titles during the poll era (since 1936), the most of any FBS team.

11. Top RB in the nation? Nebraska's Ameer Abdullah had 11 100-yard rushing games last season, the most for any returning FBS player and second most in the nation behind Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey (12).

12. Defensive dominance: Florida State allowed an FBS-low 12.1 points per game last season. The leader in scoring defense has won each of the last three national championships.

13. Members of the College Football Playoff selection committee: This group has the task of choosing the four best teams in the country.

14. OU streak free: Oklahoma has gone 14 seasons without losing consecutive regular-season games. That's right, the last time the Sooners lost back-to-back regular-season games was in Bob Stoops' first season in Norman in 1999 (to Notre Dame and Texas).

15. BCS parity: Fifteen different teams played in the BCS Championship Game. Of those 15 teams, 11 won at least one BCS title, and four won it more than once, including Alabama, which led all schools with three championships.

16. FSU win streak: Florida State has won 16 games in a row, the longest active streak in the nation.

17. Seconds per Baylor snap: The average seconds per play for Baylor in the first half last season was 17, the quickest pace for any FBS team in the past 10 seasons.

18. LSU players drafted: LSU had 18 players drafted in the last two seasons, tied with Florida State for the most by any school. The Tigers led all schools with nine players drafted in 2014.

19. Irish rust? It will be 19 months since Everett Golson last took a snap in live game action when Notre Dame opens the season on Aug. 30 versus Rice.

20. Newton's impressive season: Cam Newton scored 20 rushing touchdowns during his Heisman Trophy winning season (2010). Newton and Tim Tebow (2007) are the only players in the last 10 seasons to have at least 30 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns in a season.

22. Midshipmen discipline: Navy lost 22 penalty yards per game last season, the fewest for any FBS team. The Midshipmen had an FBS-low 34 penalties with only 11 coming on offense, the fewest for any offense in the last 10 seasons.

23. Baylor's deep touchdowns:  Bryce Petty had 23 TD passes that gained at least 25 yards last season, most in the FBS. A Baylor quarterback has had the most such touchdown passes in each of the last three seasons.

24. Meyer's win streak: Ohio State won 24 games in a row to start Urban Meyer's career as the Buckeyes' coach. That is tied for the fourth-most consecutive wins to begin a head coaching tenure in major college football history.

25. Wisconsin RB Gordon's number: Gordon enters the season as a Heisman candidate after averaging a school-record 7.8 yards per rush and gaining 1,609 rushing yards in 2013.

26. Northern Illinois home win streak: The Huskies have won 26 games in a row at home, the longest active streak in the nation.

27. Career rushing touchdowns for Todd Gurley: Gurley set a Georgia freshman running back record with 17 rushing touchdowns in 2012 and followed it up with 10 more touchdowns in 2013 before being injured. Is Gurley the top Heisman candidate among returning running backs?

28. Frank Beamer's tenure: This will be Beamer's 28th season roaming the sidelines at Virginia Tech. Beamer is the longest-tenured and winningest active coach in the FBS.

29. Gators' pass protection: Florida's quarterbacks were under duress or sacked on 29 percent of their dropbacks last season, the third-highest percentage among AQ teams. The Gators will look to new offensive coordinator Kurt Roper to shore up their pass protection for returning QB Jeff Driskel.

30. Osborne's bold decision: It has been 30 years since Tom Osborne decided to go for two points and the outright win again Miami (Fla.) in the 1984 Orange Bowl, even though a tie would have most likely given the Cornhuskers the national championship. Nebraska was stopped on the play, giving the Hurricanes a 31-30 victory and their first national championship. The teams will play this season on Sept. 20 in Lincoln.

31. Rushing touchdowns: Colorado State's Kapri Bibbs and Navy's Keenan Reynolds each rushed for 31 touchdowns last season. Only Barry Sanders (37, 1988) and Montee Ball (33, 2011) had more in a single season.

32. Replacing Tajh Boyd: Clemson quarterback Boyd had 32 wins as a starter, tied for the most in school history. Cole Stoudt has big shoes to fill as Clemson's starting quarterback for the 2014 season.

33. Passing touchdown streak:  Derek Carr threw a touchdown in 33 straight games to end his career at Fresno State. The longest active streaks are held by Marshall's Rakeem Cato (32) and Oregon's Marcus Mariota (26).

34. Trojans' win streak: USC won 34 games in a row entering the 2006 BCS National Championship. The Trojans lost that game to Texas 41-38, thanks in part to a heroic performance by Vince Young.

35. Starts for Marshall's Cato: Cato has started the most games (35) of any returning quarterback. Only Carr and Jameis Winston threw more touchdowns than Cato last season.

36. Schlichter's wins: Art Schlichter won 36 games as Ohio State's starting quarterback, the most in school history. With 11 more wins, Braxton Miller can pass Schlichter for the most all time.

37. Notre Dame improves under Kelly: Notre Dame has won 37 games since Brian Kelly took over as head coach before the 2010 season. The Irish have won 21 games the past two seasons, their most wins in back-to-back seasons since 1992-93, when Lou Holtz's squad went 21-2-1.

38. Jack is back: Pac-12 Offensive and Defensive Freshman of the Year  Myles Jack had 38 rushes in 2013. UCLA coach Jim Mora says Jack will play his more natural position, linebacker, next season.

39. FSU points per game margin: Florida State outscored its opponents by 39.5 points per game last season, the best differential for any FBS team since Houston outscored opponents by 39.9 in 1989.

40. Winston touchdown passes: FSU QB Winston threw 40 touchdown passes last season, the most by a freshman in FBS history.

41. LaRue's first-half completions: Wake Forest's Rusty LaRue threw 41 completions in the first half against Duke on Oct. 28, 1995, the most in any half by an FBS player. LaRue's efforts were not enough as the Demon Deacons lost their third straight game to Duke. This season the teams are scheduled to play on Nov. 29, with the Blue Devils going for their third straight win over Wake Forest for the first time since that game in 1995.

42. Final Michigan-Notre Dame game: This season, Michigan and Notre Dame will meet on the field for the 42nd time. There are no games scheduled between the two schools in the foreseeable future.

43. Boise's Fiesta Bowl win: Boise State scored 43 points in its one-point overtime win against Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. The Broncos pulled out all the tricks in the game, scoring on a "hook-and-ladder" and "Statue of Liberty" play.

44. Cardinal sack artists: Stanford had 44 sacks last season, the most in the FBS. It marked the second straight season the Cardinal led the nation in sacks.

45. Fisher wins: Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher has 45 wins through four seasons with the Seminoles. Fisher has gone 4-0 in bowl games, including the BCS National Championship Game last season.

46. Replacing Lynch: Jordan Lynch gained 46 percent of Northern Illinois' rushing yards last season, seven percentage points higher than any other FBS quarterback.

47. OU win streak: The Sooners won 47 games in a row from 1953 to '57, including back-to-back national titles in 1955-56. The streak ended with a 7-0 loss to Notre Dame on Nov. 16, 1957.

48. 1 versus 2: The No. 1 team in the AP poll has played the No. 2-ranked FBS team 48 times. The top-ranked team leads the series 27-19-2. The top two teams in the AP poll have played at least once in 10 straight seasons. (Note: This does not include Iowa Pre Flight, which was ranked No. 2 in the AP poll during the 1943 season and lost to No. 1 Notre Dame.)

49. SEC players drafted: The SEC has big holes to fill after 49 players were selected in the 2014 NFL draft, the eighth straight year the SEC led all conferences in draft picks.

50. Arkansas anniversary: It has been 50 years since Arkansas went 11-0 in 1964 and was named national champions by the Football Writers Association of America (AP Poll and UPI awarded Alabama the trophy before its bowl loss to Texas). The Razorbacks will have a lot of work to do to get back to the top after finishing with their worst winning percentage (3-9, .250 win percentage) since 1952.

51. Staubach's Heisman: In 1963 -- 51 years ago -- Navy quarterback Roger Staubach became the fifth and most recent player to win the Heisman Trophy from a service academy.

52. Baylor PPG average: The Bears averaged 52.4 points per game last season, the most for any team since Nebraska also averaged 52.4 points in 1995.

53. Michigan's void at WR:  Jeremy Gallon had 53 receptions that gained 10 yards or more last season. He had a 2014 single-game high 12 such receptions in the Wolverines' win over Indiana on Oct. 19, a game in which he caught 14 passes for a Big Ten-record 369 yards.

54. Years since Duke's last bowl win: The Blue Devils led by 21 points in the 2013 Chick-fil-A Bowl before Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M scored 35 second-half points to keep Duke from winning its first bowl game since 1960.

55. Tebow touchdowns: Tim Tebow accounted for 55 touchdowns during his Heisman Trophy-winning season (2007), the most ever for a player in the SEC.

56. Army scoring record: The 1944 Army team averaged 56 points per game over a nine-game schedule. Through nine games last season, Baylor was averaging 61.2 points per game and was on pace to break the record before scoring 32.5 points per game in its final four games.

57. "Kick Six:" Alabama missed a 57-yard field goal attempt at the end of regulation in the Iron Bowl, which was returned by Auburn's Chris Davis for 100 yards to lift the Tigers to an improbable 34-28 victory.

58. Michigan's wins against Ohio State: The Wolverines lead the series 58-45-6 but have lost 11 of the last 13 games.

59. Longhorns' mediocrity: Texas has won 59 percent of its games since the start of the 2010 season. That's just the fifth-best winning percentage among FBS teams in its own state.

60. Baylor's two-minute touchdowns: Baylor scored 60 touchdowns in two minutes or less last season, nine more than any team in the last 10 seasons.

61. Langford's late surge: Michigan State's Jeremy Langford averaged 61 yards rushing after contact per game in the last nine weeks of the season. He rushed for more than 100 yards in eight of the last nine games. 

62. SEC win percentage: The SEC won 61.7 percent of its games last season, the highest of all conferences.

63. Flutie's Miracle in Miami:  Doug Flutie's "Hail Mary" traveled 63 yards in the air in Boston College's 47-45 defeat of Miami (Fla.) in 1984. Flutie went on to win the Heisman Trophy in the 1984 season.

64. Teams in "Power 5:" There will be 64 teams in the "Power Five" conferences in 2014. Teams changing conferences include Louisville, Maryland and Rutgers.

65. LSU replacing rushing void: Sixty-five percent of LSU's 2013 rush attempts will not be returning next season. The Tigers have signed the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2014 class, according to the ESPN 300: RB Leonard Fournette.

66. The Head Ball Coach as player: Steve Spurrier won the Heisman Trophy in 1966. He then coached Danny Wuerffel to a Heisman Trophy in 1996. This season, South Carolina running back Mike Davis has the chance to make Spurrier the 12th coach with multiple Heisman Trophy winners.

67.  Brett Hundley's completion percentage: Hundley completed 67.2 percent of his passes in 2013, the highest percentage of any returning AQ quarterback.

68. Texas implements wishbone: In 1968, Texas coach Darrell Royal implemented the wishbone offense. Texas went on to win 30 games in a row and two national championships from 1968 to 1970, resulting in others adopting the offense.

69. Mannion mania: Oregon State's Sean Mannion completed 69 passes thrown at least 15 yards downfield, the most among AQ quarterbacks last season.

70. Ground and pound: Auburn ran the ball on 70 percent of its plays last season, the highest percentage of any non-triple-option offense.

71. FSU game-winning drive: There were 71 seconds left on the clock when Florida State started its game-winning 80-yard touchdown drive to defeat Auburn 34-31 in the BCS National Championship.

72. Penn State spring game attendance: The Nittany Lions had 72,000 fans at their spring game as they start a new era under James Franklin. Only Alabama (73,506) had more fans at its spring game among FBS schools.

73. Winston's long ball: Jameis Winston completed 73 passes of 20-plus yards last season, the most among returning FBS quarterbacks.

74. Bill Snyder still going: The 74-year-old Snyder is the oldest active FBS coach. Kansas State has won 66 percent of its games with Snyder and 38 percent without him.

76. FSU's returning receiver:  Rashad Greene, Florida State's leading receiver, caught 76 passes and finished the season with 1,128 receiving yards.

77. Montee on the ball: Wisconsin's Montee Ball scored 77 touchdowns in his career, most ever by an FBS player. His teammate, Melvin Gordon, can set his own Big Ten record if he keeps up his career yards per rush (8.1) average.

78. Heisman Trophy winners: There have been 78 Heisman Trophy winners since Jay Berwanger won the first in 1935. Archie Griffin remains the only player to win the award twice.

79. Saban wins at Alabama: Alabama has won 79 games since Nick Saban took over as coach before the 2007 season, tied with Boise State for most in the FBS.

80. High-scoring November games: Florida State (versus Idaho) and North Carolina (versus Old Dominion) each scored 80 points on Nov. 23, the most by any FBS team in a game last season.

81. Halliday's impact at Washington State: Washington State returning quarterback Connor Halliday accounted for 81 percent of the Cougars' offense last season, the highest percentage of any player in the nation.

82. Stout rushing defense: Louisville allowed just below 82 (81.5 to be exact) rushing yards per game last season, best in the FBS.

83. Lots of pass attempts: Drew Brees threw 83 passes against Wisconsin on Oct. 10, 1998, which was the FBS record until  Halliday attempted 89 passes last season against Oregon. Both Brees and Halliday lost the game.

84. High mark for Hogan:  Kevin Hogan posted an .842 win percentage as Stanford's starting quarterback, including a 10-1 (.909) mark against AP Top-25 opponents.

85. SEC champs: Auburn ran 85 plays in its win in the 2013 SEC championship game. Auburn has won eight SEC championships, tied with Florida for fifth most in the conference.

86. Hundley's long run: UCLA's Brett Hundley had an 86-yard touchdown run in the second quarter of the 2013 Sun Bowl. Hundley finished the game with two records for a Bruins player in a bowl game: the longest run and the most total yards (387).

87. UCLA pass protection: Hundley was sacked 87 times the last two seasons, 17 more than any other FBS player.

88. Best end-of-season QBR:  Nick Marshall had a 88.3 Total QBR in Auburn's final eight games of the season, best in the FBS during that span (minimum five games started).

89. 2013 QBR leader: Oregon's Marcus Mariota led the FBS with a 89.5 Total QBR in 2013. Mariota had 31 touchdown passes last season and only four interceptions.

90. Alabama win percentage: The Tide won 60 of 67 games in the past five seasons, including three national championships. No other team had a win percentage higher than 86 percent during that time.

91. Washington's last title: The University of Washington was ranked No. 1 in the inaugural USA Today final poll in 1991, the only time the Huskies ended the season at the top in that poll.

92. End of an era: Boise State won 92 games with Chris Petersen as its coach, six more than any FBS team during that span (2006-13). The Broncos will start a new era with Bryan Harsin heading the team.

93. Johnny Football touchdowns: Johnny Manziel scored 93 touchdowns (63 pass, 30 rush) in the last two seasons, most in the FBS.

94. Florida state offensive touchdowns: The Seminoles scored 94 touchdowns last season, the most for any FBS team since Oklahoma set the FBS record with 99 in 2008.

95.  Trevor Knight's QBR against Alabama: Knight had a 95 Total QBR in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, the fifth-highest QBR that Alabama allowed in the Nick Saban era. Three of the top-six QBR performances against the Tide under Saban occurred after Nov. 1 of last season.

96. Winston's first game: Jameis Winston had a 96 Total QBR against Pittsburgh in his first career game, his highest in any game last season. Winston threw two incompletions in the game and four touchdowns.

97. Before the BCS: 1997 was the last college football season played without the BCS. A split national title between Michigan and Nebraska turned out to be the straw that broke the camel's back on the pre-BCS era.

98.  Devin Gardner's number: Gardner wore No. 98 in Michigan's final 12 games of the season. It was worn in honor of Michigan's first Heisman Trophy winner, Tom Harmon.

99. Big plays: AJ McCarron's TD pass to Amari Cooper in the Iron Bowl last season was one of two 99-yard plays from scrimmage last season; the other was Tommy Armstrong to Quincy Enunwa in Nebraska's Gator Bowl win against Georgia.

100. The Granddaddy of them all: There have been 100 Rose Bowls played since it was first played after the 1901 season (Jan. 1, 1902).
