— -- JACKSON, Miss. -- John Daly is out of the hospital and recovering from what his agent describes as a collapsed lung.

The two-time major champion was taken to Baptist Medical Center on Saturday after he collapsed at the 18th tee during an outing at Deerfield Country Club. A friend at the hospital with Daly says doctors were checking his ribs and some fingers but his vital signs were good.

Will Dottley, who was paired with Daly on Saturday, told The Golf Channel that a nurse in the gallery had to perform CPR on Daly and his survival was "kind of a miracle."

Anna Cladakis, Daly's fiancée, told ESPN's Michael Collins in a text that Daly "is resting, but is in a lot of pain."

Daly's agent, Bud Martin, said in an email Saturday that the 49-year-old Daly has been coping with a lingering rib injury dating to 2007. The injury recently was causing pain and affected his breathing.

Deerfield club pro Leigh Brannan says Daly was having trouble with the heat and had difficulty breathing before being taken to the hospital. Temperatures were near 90 degrees Saturday.
