Andre Debose involved in dispute

— -- GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida receiver Andre Debose was involved in a violent dispute and was thrown into a window on Saturday night, according to a Gainesville Police Department report.

Initially, the GPD reported that Debose had thrown another person through a window, but police spokesman Ben Tobias posted a correction and an apology to Debose via social media, saying Debose tried multiple times to break up a fight.

Debose, who was unhurt, spoke with Florida coach Will Muschamp about the incident Sunday.

"He told me it was an eye-opening experience," Muschamp said Monday. "He admittedly said, 'Coach, I was in a bad place and shouldn't have been there, and I didn't know all of the people that were involved.' And I just told him, 'That's where you've got to be careful.'"

Debose, Victor Watkins II and John Mark Honeycutt were interviewed by police after the incident.

Only Honeycutt was arrested. He faces third-degree felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill for allegedly firing a rifle into Watkins' vehicle, according to the police report.

Debose, a senior who last week was given a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility, missed the 2013 season with a torn ACL and will be a limited participant in Florida's spring practices. He owns a school record with four kickoff returns for touchdowns and has 29 career catches for 543 yards and four touchdowns.
