— -- LOS ANGELES -- Clippers forward Blake Griffin and guard J.J. Redick will not travel with the team for its final regular-season game Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Clippers coach Doc Rivers already had planned on resting Redick, but the decision to give Griffin the night off was essentially taken out of his hands Tuesday night when Griffin picked up his 16th technical foul in the first half against the  Denver Nuggets, drawing a league-mandated one-game suspension.

"The worst case is he's suspended one game, I'm not going to bring him anyway," Rivers said. "They'll probably rescind that. I'd be surprised but you never know. I want Blake to stay home and get some rest. He's so banged up."

Rivers said Chris Paul would make the trip but he's not sure how much he will play.

"We're going to play tomorrow," Rivers said. "I just don't know who we're going to play as far as our guys but we'll be ready to play."

Griffin was given the technical foul when he swung his right arm to try to block  Timofey Mozgov's shot with 3:23 left in the second quarter and hit Mozgov's head. Griffin was adamant the hit was unintentional.

The league will review the play and determine whether the technical foul will stand. If it does, Griffin will be suspended one game. If it is rescinded, Griffin will be eligible to play but will still watch the game in Los Angeles.

"I honestly do [think it will get rescinded]," Griffin said. "It's one of those ones where it was a continuation. I make a play on the ball and I hit the ball first, and he gives me a tech for that. I'm not sure if that's going to stand up but we'll see. It's ultimately their decision."
