— -- CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College forward Becky Gottstein, a member of the All-Big East Conference second team last season, will miss the rest of 2001-02 due to multiple stress fractures. Gottstein, a senior, suffered a stress fracture in her right leg in early November and was sidelined three weeks. She returned to the lineup Dec. 5 and played four games before suffering a stress fracture in her left foot. In response to symptoms in her left foot, diagnostic tests revealed that no healing had occurred in either fracture. Gottstein averaged 12.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in four games this season. She averaged 15.4 points and 8.1 rebounds in 2000-01. "We are frustrated for Becky because she has worked so hard to become one of the best players in the Big East," coach Cathy Inglese said. "And we are disappointed for our team because of the leadership, energy and passion Becky brings to the game." Boston College is 13-3 overall this season and 4-1 in the Big East.
