— -- Cleveland Cavaliers center Channing Frye lost his father, Thomas, on Thanksgiving, just a month after Frye's mother died after a battle with cancer.

"On a day for thanks. Be thankful for the person next to you. My father passed away today. Y'all better love on your family," Frye wrote on his Instagram account.

The Cavs put out a statement Friday offering condolences to Frye and his family. Frye will not play Friday as the Cavs host the Dallas Mavericks, and he will be away indefinitely.

Coach Tyronn Lue also expressed his support for Frye. ?

"It's tough to lose one parent; he's lost two," Lue said. "It's had to be taking a toll on him. We're going to be his family support and whatever he needs, he can take his time."

Frye's mother, Karen Mulzac-Frye, an award-winning television journalist in Phoenix, died Oct. 27. Frye received his NBA championship ring just two days earlier. He was away from the team for two games to attend her funeral.

Frye is having a strong season for the Cavs, averaging 11.3 points and shooting 49 percent on 3-pointers. He scored 14 points in the team's win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.
