Dodgers' flight diverted en route to Texas due to mechanical issues
— -- LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers' chartered flight from San Diego to Texas had to be re-routed to LAX because of mechanical issues, according to tweets from those on board.
Alanna Rizzo, the sideline reporter for SportsNet LA, the team-owned cable network, tweeted that members of the traveling party had boarded another plane and were en route to Texas after a two-hour delay.
The Dodgers, who defeated the San Diego Padres 4-2 in extra innings Sunday, were bound for Arlington, Texas, where they are scheduled to play the Rangers in two interleague games Monday and Tuesday.
United Airlines Flight 2207 departed San Diego at about 7:15 p.m. PT when the pilot reported an unspecified mechanical issue, forcing the aircraft to be diverted to Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Infielder Justin Turner and Rizzo posted that the Dodgers were informed the aircraft was having trouble with a stabilizer.
