Heat add Wayne Ellington, James Johnson

— -- The Miami Heat have added former Nets guard Wayne Ellington and ex-Raptors forward James Johnson.

Ellington acknowledged the deal via Instagram.

The two-year deal is worth $12 million and was first reported by the Vertical and confirmed by ESPN's Michael Wallace.

Johnson has signed a one-year, $4 million deal, his agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Heat will become Ellington's seventh team in eight seasons. He spent his first three years in Minnesota and has been on the move often since, playing for Memphis, Cleveland, Dallas, the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn.

Ellington averaged 7.7 points last season for the Nets and had the two best shooting performances of his career against the Heat. He made seven 3-pointers in a 2012 win over Miami while with Memphis, and then matched that mark with another seven for Brooklyn in a win in Miami last season.

The Heat just faced Johnson in the playoffs, when the veteran forward played in four games during the Toronto Raptors' seven-game series win against Miami to advance to the Eastern Conference finals. Johnson appeared in 57 games with the Raptors last season, averaging 5.0 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

The Heat must decide by late Sunday night whether to match the four-year, $50 million contract to retain restricted free-agent guard Tyler Johnson, who signed with the Nets on Friday.

Since losing franchise cornerstone Dwyane Wade in free agency to Chicago last week, the Heat have used much of their available $20 million in salary cap space to add forward Derrick Williams, in addition to Ellington and Johnson on short-term deals. Miami is also likely to bring back forward Udonis Haslem and guard Beno Udrih with their remaining cap space.
