— -- EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Four days after claiming Muhammad Wilkerson hasn't been affected by a lingering ankle injury, the New York Jets decided to make the Pro bowl defensive end inactive Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Wilkerson, who played 96 percent of the defensive snaps in the first six games, has been bothered by residual soreness from offseason surgery to repair a fractured right fibula. The injury happened in the final game of the 2015 season.

Wilkerson practiced Thursday on a limited basis. He did not practice on Wednesday and Friday, complaining of discomfort.

Wilkerson, who signed a five-year, $86 million contract before training camp, is off to a slow start. He has only 1.5 sacks.

The Jets will be without three defensive starters, including rookie linebacker Darron Lee (ankle) and veteran linebacker Erin Henderson.

On Saturday, Henderson was placed on the non-football injury/illness list. The reason is undisclosed. He likely is done for the season.
