— -- FALL RIVER, Mass. -- The judge overseeing the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez says she'll allow some jailhouse conversations to be used in his case.

Hernandez is accused in the June 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee.

His lawyers on Wednesday asked Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh to exclude jailhouse phone calls he and others connected to the case have made, saying they're irrelevant and contain hearsay.

They include conversations he had with his fiancee, his college teammate and Miami Dolphins player Mike Pouncey and others.

Garsh did not immediately say which calls could be used but did say she hoped to release details later Wednesday.

Prosecutors say they have no plans to use the calls with Pouncey.

Also Wednesday, Garsh said prosecutors are "about a week or so'' away from resting their case. The trial has already gone on for eight weeks.
