Julio Urias, 17, starts Dodgers' win

— -- GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Julio Urias, a 17-year-old prospect from Mexico, got the start for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a split-squad win over the San Diego Padres on Saturday.

Urias struck out two in a hitless inning. The left-hander had nine strikes in 14 pitches. Urias went 2-0 with a 2.48 ERA in 18 starts for Single-A Great Lakes last season.

Despite being expected to start the season in Single-A, Urias said he hopes to make it to the majors this season, but "if not that, Double-A."

"I feel prepared," Urias said Saturday. "When the opportunity presents itself, I'll be ready."

Dee Gordon had a leadoff triple in Los Angeles' two-run first, en route to a 5-4 win.

Gordon, who figures to be the Dodgers' second baseman for their season-opening series in Australia from March 22-23 against Arizona, also stole second base in the second inning. He has nine steals in nine attempts this spring.
