Kam Chancellor's holdout will continue unless Seahawks adjust contract

— -- Kam Chancellor's holdout won't end unless the Seattle Seahawks address his contract concerns, his agent said Wednesday.

"Nothing has changed. He will not report without his contract being addressed this season," agent Alvin Keels told ESPN's Josina Anderson. "The team and I have been in contact, but we haven't been able to agree on any compromise."

The Pro Bowl safety's absence from Seahawks camp is approaching the end of its third week.

"We just keep working at it, we just keep working to keep the communication lines open," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Thursday.

Chancellor has three years and $16.88 million remaining on the four-year, $28 million extension he signed before the 2013 season. He's guaranteed no money beyond the 2015 season, during which he's scheduled to make a base salary of $4.55 million.

General manager John Schneider told SiriusXM NFL Radio earlier this month that "at the end of the day, you have to stick to your plan and your principle," an indication that the Seahawks would adhere to their policy of not completely redoing a second contract with more than a year remaining. At the very least, they're wary of the precedent that giving in to Chancellor could set.

Teams can fine a holdout player a maximum of $30,000 for each day of training camp missed.

Additionally, Chancellor's holdout has reached the point at which Seattle could recoup 25 percent of his $1 million signing-bonus proration for 2015, which amounts to $250,000. It should be noted, though, that imposing such a fine is at the team's discretion. The Seahawks, for instance, chose not to fine running back Marshawn Lynch after he returned from his holdout last summer.
