— -- Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski has "improved considerably" after feeling dizzy and light-headed during and after Wednesday night's loss at Wake Forest.

Krzyzewski had to take a knee during a timeout late in the game and missed his postgame news conference. He was examined by the team medical staff at the arena after the game and later underwent precautionary tests at Duke University Medical Center when he returned to Durham, according to a statement by the university.

"His symptoms and condition have improved considerably, and Coach Krzyzewski was sent home during the early morning hours on Thursday," the school said.

Associate head coach Steve Wojciechowski stepped in for Krzyzewski after the fourth-ranked Blue Devils' 82-72 loss to Wake Forest.

Wojciechowski said the team medical staff advised the Hall of Fame coach, 67, to remain in the locker room instead of speaking to reporters after the game.

Wojciechowski said Krzyzewski has not been sick and has been in good shape.

"There was a great emotional investment in the game," Wojciechowski said, "and I think maybe the emotion got the better of him."

Krzyzewski left the arena under his own power, the Raleigh News and Observer reported.
