— -- Nc State (3-4) at No. 9 Florida St (7-1), 3:30 pm EST TALLAHASSEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Ninth-ranked Florida State can book a spot in the first Atlantic Coast Conference championship game when it hosts North Carolina State on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles (7-1, 5-1 ACC Atlantic) are coming off a tough, 35-27 victory over Maryland here last week. Florida State jumped out to a 14-0 lead, surrendered 24 straight points, then rallied behind quarterback Drew Weatherford, who ran 15 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 8:52 to play. Ernie Sims then came up with an interception that led to James Coleman's one-yard insurance touchdown run. The Wolfpack (3-4, 1-4 Atlantic), who are in last place in the division, had lost back-to-back contests before posting a 21-17 comeback win over Southern Mississippi in a non-conference matchup last Saturday. NC State trailed by 14 points midway through the third quarter and by 17-7 early in the fourth before rallying. Andre Brown pulled the Wolfpack within three points on a 61-yard TD run before they took the lead on a three-yard TD pass from freshman Marcus Stone to Brian Clark with just over five minutes to play. Also a freshman, Brown rushed for 248 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries. Last year, Florida State posted a 17-10 road win over NC State. The Seminoles are 18-7 all-time in the series.
