    The Horse Guards Parade, which sits on the prime minister's doorstep in central London, will be home to the beach volleyball competition for the 2012 Olympics. The parade ground takes its name from the soldiers who have protected the monarch since the restoration of the monarchy in 1660. This venue, which dates back to 1975, hosts Trooping of the Colour event each year on the queen's birthday.
