After three brutal head-to-head NBA Finals match ups in the 1980s, the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers renew their classic rivalry, as the 2008 finals tip off on June 5. Here, a trip down memory lane to 1987, when the teams last battled for league supremacy.

The 2008 Boston Celtics enter the NBA finals on the strength of their "Big Three." Newcomers Kevin Garnett, left, and Ray Allen, center, joined longtime Celtic Paul Pierce this season and meshed immediately, and Boston lead the league in victories.
