Cyclist Lance Armstrong fractured his collarbone when he crashed during the first stage of Spain's Vuelta Castilla y Leon March 23, 2009. Armstrong was knocked off his bike alongside several riders during the race. The seven-time Tour de France champion was scheduled to fly back to the United States, where doctors will decide whether he needs surgery. Depending on how severe the injury is, Armstrong could be knocked out of the Tour de France, which takes place in July. He was supposed to be the lead rider for the Astana team.
