— -- The Oakland Raiders on Thursday announced they will continue to play their home games at O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California, after agreeing to a lease extension with the stadium for the 2016 season.

City and county officials announced in a statement that the lease is for 2016, with options for 2017 and 2018.

"My heart is here in Oakland, and if we can get something done, that's what we're going to do," team owner Mark Davis said.

The Raiders, who have called the O.co Coliseum home since the 1995 season, had been on a year-to-year lease as they looked into a possible move to Los Angeles. Their current lease had been set to expire Feb. 17.

Though the team will remain in Oakland in 2016, Davis has had conversations with billionaire Red McCombs about San Antonio and also visited potential stadium sites in Las Vegas last month as the Raiders look to find a home stadium in 2017 and beyond.

The Raiders would also have the option to relocate to Los Angeles in 2017 if the San Diego Chargers decide to remain in San Diego rather than share a stadium with the Rams in Inglewood.
