— -- BEREA, Ohio -- The mother of receiver DeVante Parker is thrilled her son is in Miami.

And perhaps just as thrilled he's not with the Cleveland Browns.

"We didn't want him going to Cleveland," Raneca Parker told the Miami Herald on Friday. "They don't have a team, really, or a quarterback. I knew I didn't want the Cleveland Browns."

DeVante Parker's name had been linked to the Browns throughout the draft process. Miami selected him 14th, two picks after the Browns took defensive tackle Danny Shelton.

"I know the teams he could go to and the teams he couldn't go to," Raneca Parker said. "We were happy with the Miami Dolphins. He was very ecstatic. We're happy, we love the weather."

Miami and Cleveland have had their past spats over players, but in another sport.

LeBron James left the  Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010 to play for the Miami Heat, before returning to the Cavs last summer.
